1st to Serve Halo-Halo Flipped
Icebergs is best known for Super Halo-Halo. But did you know that we pioneered serving it where the ingredients are on top of shaved ice on a big bowl? Traditional halo-halo had the ingredients under the ice on a tall glass. We are happy to see other establishments following suit. We made history right there!
Since 1986 (That’s 29 years, y’all! Woot!)
Our humble beginning started on 1986 when Juliet Young, a housewife, opened a 5-table hole in the wall halo-halo restaurant along Timog Avenue in Quezon City to pass the time since her children are already grown up. She only served a handful of menu items, mostly her mother’s recipes.
Word of Mouth
During the 80’s, there was television but no social media. Since the restaurant is smacked around the two biggest television networks in the Philippines, Icebergs suddenly grew popularity when an influx of celebrities became loyal patrons. Juliet’s son, Allan, then had the grand vision to turn their little eatery into a food chain.
